Event 1

One of the events I attend was the Henry Barnard 2nd grade class teaching students how to make lanterns for the president’s house. This event was held at the Alex and Ani school of arts building on campus. I went in and one of the 2nd graders came and taught me how to make a lantern out of cloth, a few straws and some string. We would draw on the cloth Christmas themed pictures. The 2nd grader taught me these things and I had a conversation with the 2nd grader about how things were going. We talked about how school was going for him and what sports he played and other general stuff. This event showed how youth could be leaders and teach in their communities. The second grader was very good at teaching me how to make a lantern and it was cool to see someone at his age instruct a college kid. When I was that age I would be too nervous to instruct anyone let alone a college kid. This event is showing that having youth lead is good for youth and have them build leadership qualities.
